FDA Lowers BMI Requirements for the LAP-BAND
FEB. 17, 2011. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved lower Body Mass Index (BMI) requirements for the LAP-BAND® System Surgery. Patients with a BMI of 30 or more, and one co-morbid condition such as diabetes or hypertension, can now have access to the LAP-BAND® System. The FDA concluded in a Dec. 3, 2010 report that the benefits of extending the use of the LAP-BAND® System to healthier patients outweighs the risks.

UPDATE AUGUST 2010: Recently we moved into a new office space at the Indiana Surgery Center, 9700 East 146th Street, Suite 150, Noblesville, Indiana (see photo below). Our office is located just east of State Road 37. This move creates new opportunities for collaboration and convenience for our patients.
Dr. McEwen has both inpatient and outpatient options available. In this state-of-the-art facility, our patients will be able to attend informational sessions, receive education and exercise in a beautiful, supportive, medically-directed environment.
